This monumental project, spanning 17 years and 263 global institutions, catalogs over 12,000 works. In New York, the focus narrows to the intersection of art and sound, categorized into themes of ritual harmony, literati elegance, and the vibrant music of daily life.

Visitors encounter history through high-resolution digital reproductions and interactive installations. By engaging with listening horns or tapping on digital figures, guests hear traditional instruments—such as the guqin—that have been silent for centuries. Beyond the Song-era artifacts, the show features contemporary works from Zhejiang artists and hands-on stations for tea whisking and flower arranging, bridging the gap between historical craftsmanship and modern interpretation.

During the opening ceremony, Deputy Consul General Ma Xiaoxiao emphasized that the event aligns with recent presidential consensus on strengthening cultural ties. Peter Walker, Co-Chair of the China Institute of America, noted that while geopolitical headlines often dominate the discourse, these enduring cultural bonds remain a cornerstone of international cooperation. The exhibition runs through August 27 before the focus shifts to Montreal, where a related display, Serene Mind Across the Seasons, begins its own North American tour.
