The Group’s roadmap prioritizes a virtuous cycle of data collection, training, and validation to refine vehicle performance. Through a collaboration with NVIDIA, Hyundai plans to launch Level 2+ production in the first half of 2028, followed by internal Atria AI-powered systems by late 2029. This transition leverages the company’s annual sales volume of 7 million vehicles to build a comprehensive data ecosystem, utilizing hard example mining and continuous training to navigate complex edge cases.
Technological progress is spearheaded by 42dot, which is currently testing Vision-Language-Action (VLA) models. These systems allow vehicles to interpret visual inputs and language-based reasoning to make real-time decisions, a departure from traditional sensor-only logic. To validate these advancements, a Level 4 pilot program will launch in Gwangju later this year. Minwoo Park, head of the Advanced Vehicle Platform Division, emphasized that the current race for autonomy is no longer defined by individual features, but by the velocity at which a manufacturer can transform raw driving data into reliable, scalable software updates.
