The new hardware lineup centers on integrating NovAtel’s SPAN GNSS+INS technology to ensure accurate positioning and ego-motion estimation. The compact aiMotive Rig focuses on LiDAR-based capture using the Hesai OT128, optimized for static environment mapping and lane benchmarking. In contrast, the aiMotive Rooftop Box offers a comprehensive multi-modal suite, featuring a 360-degree array of six Sony IMX728 cameras paired with dual Hesai LiDAR sensors.

Both systems run on proprietary aiRec software, which manages live sensor diagnostics to maintain synchronization. Beyond raw recording, the hardware integrates directly into aiMotive’s aiData annotation pipeline and supports World Extractor for neural reconstruction, turning sensor output into synthetic simulation environments. According to Luca Csanady, Business Director of Professional Services at aiMotive, the hardware is engineered to eliminate recording errors, providing a reliable foundation for downstream tasks like auto-annotation.

Customers can purchase the units directly or engage aiMotive’s Professional Services team to handle end-to-end data collection. By utilizing the NovAtel PwrPak7D-E2, the systems provide the ground truth data necessary for rigorous testing of automated driving functions, a move that Andreas Niemann, Director of Global Sales at NovAtel, notes is essential for teams looking to accelerate innovation cycles.
