Edgebot, the firm behind the AI-directed quantitative research desk AlphaLab, announced a data relationship with Benzinga to incorporate the latter's Premium U.S. Equities Newsfeed into its infrastructure. The partnership addresses a critical challenge in quantitative finance: aligning news events with price history to ensure that event-driven studies remain accurate during the backtesting process.
AlphaLab operates by allowing users to assign specific trading hypotheses to an AI research team, which then undergoes verification by an independent AI Risk Analyst. According to Tarek Ayna, CEO and co-founder of Edgebot, the precise alignment of Benzinga's data allows these AI researchers to begin testing strategies immediately. Clint Rhea, manager of institutional partnerships at Benzinga, noted that the collaboration focuses on making news data actionable within the complex workflows of modern quantitative research, providing a more robust foundation for signal evaluation.
