Military spectrum authorizations currently require between 75 and 180 days, a timeline increasingly incompatible with the rapid pace of modern conflict. The Xtremis platform, spectrumOS, aims to replace these manual, disconnected processes with automated software that integrates artificial intelligence and physics-based radio-frequency modeling. During trials at Fort Carson, Colorado, government spectrum managers utilized the system to identify potential frequency conflicts and generate authorization requests in real-time.
Adam Jay Harrison, CEO of Xtremis, noted that the platform is designed to treat the electromagnetic spectrum as a decisive maneuver space rather than a static administrative burden. By combining sensor data with agentic AI, the system accelerates data processing while maintaining human oversight for critical decisions. This win expands the company's footprint within the Department of War, adding to its existing work on the Advanced Dynamic Spectrum Reconnaissance system and participation in the Army’s Project Convergence experiments.
Beyond defense applications, the technology addresses a broader scarcity issue shared by the commercial telecommunications sector. With U.S. wireless data consumption hitting 132.5 trillion megabytes in 2025, the demand for efficient spectrum sharing has reached a critical threshold. Xtremis intends to leverage its dual-use software to reduce interference for both military units and 5G providers, positioning the firm to scale its operations across national security and private wireless markets.
