Cabot is committing $75 million of its own capital to complement the Department of Energy’s award, which originates from the Office of Critical Minerals and Energy Innovation. The investment targets brownfield expansions at plants in Franklin, Louisiana, and Pampa, Texas, effectively shifting the scope of a previously announced project.
Chief Executive Sean Keohane noted that the strategy focuses on utilizing established manufacturing assets to secure a stronger footing in the North American battery ecosystem. This localized supply chain is intended to support clients navigating the rapid expansion of grid modernization and electrification trends.
