The expansion marks a significant shift in how the retail giant organizes its beverage aisles. Following the success of its "Modern Soda" category, Walmart is responding to data from SPINS indicating that mood-focused drinks are outpacing protein supplements by nearly three-to-one. For Walmart’s VP of Beverage, Brian Salmon, the inclusion of TRIP was a strategic necessity, citing the brand's established reputation for helping consumers navigate daily stress.
TRIP’s presence at Walmart is expanding beyond the new set; it is now stocked in ambient beverage aisles and the cold "New & Noteworthy" section with six distinct SKUs. This retail footprint arrives as the brand experiences rapid growth, bolstered by a global "Calm in the Chaos" campaign featuring Kendall Jenner and Joe Jonas. With industry analysts identifying mental wellbeing as a top priority for younger generations, the move suggests a broader market pivot: retailers are betting that modern shoppers prioritize mental balance over traditional functional needs like hydration or energy.
