Dr. Grant, who holds degrees in medicine, law, and business, arrived in Detroit this September following his tenure as co-director of the Louisiana Cancer Research Center. His new mandate focuses on decentralizing high-quality care, ensuring that patients outside of the metro Detroit area gain access to advanced clinical trials without the burden of long-distance travel. He will work alongside Dr. Anthony Shields to oversee the oncology service line and support the institute's strategic research goals.
Beyond his administrative duties, Dr. Grant co-leads the Thoracic Oncology Multidisciplinary Team with surgeon Dr. David Sternberg. His clinical practice centers on lung cancer, including small cell and non-small cell varieties, as well as pleural mesotheliomas. His background includes leadership positions at NCI-designated comprehensive cancer centers, including Memorial Sloan-Kettering and Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center. By integrating his research in targeted therapies and immunologic approaches, the institute aims to solidify its position in clinical trial innovation while maintaining consistent care standards throughout the McLaren Health Care network.
