Chemistry Expands to Boston with Acquisition of Colossus

Independent agency Chemistry is planting a flag in New England, acquiring the high-profile Boston creative shop Colossus. The deal marks Chemistry's fifth U.S. location and folds a three-time Ad Age Small Agency of the Year winner into its national network, aiming to bolster its design and visual storytelling bench.

The integration brings together two firms defined by rapid growth and industry accolades. Colossus, which recently completed high-profile branding work for Kendall Square and collaborated on an Emmy-winning project with Jon Stewart, gains access to Chemistry’s broader suite of production, media, and analytics services. For Chemistry, the move follows a pattern of strategic expansion supported by its 2025 partnership with Breakwater Management.

Chemistry CEO Ned Show emphasized that the acquisition centers on talent acquisition rather than simple scale, noting that the Boston team will retain its creative identity while operating under the Chemistry banner. Colossus co-founder Jon Balck stated that the merger offers his team a larger platform for their clients without compromising the culture that fueled their recent success. Chemistry Boston joins existing offices in Atlanta, Pittsburgh, New York, and Miami.
