The redesigned tablets allow for effective treatment in dogs weighing as little as seven pounds, expanding the reach of this COX-2 selective NSAID. Beyond the clinical utility, the product update introduces a more sustainable packaging approach. Once divided, the tablets remain stable in their containers for up to one month. To further improve manufacturing efficiency, the company is transitioning to taller, round bottles and removing excess cotton packaging.
Dr. Russ Drury, Executive Director of Veterinary Professional Services at Boehringer Ingelheim, noted that the design flexibility aims to improve treatment outcomes and quality of life for a broader canine population. While the tablet's physical scoring and bottle dimensions are changing, the core formulation, dosage strengths, and child-resistant safety features remain identical to the original version. The rollout will occur progressively throughout 2026 and 2027, starting with the 60-count presentations for both dosage strengths.
