The ICONIC-LEAD study, involving 684 participants, evaluated the long-term impact of the targeted oral peptide icotrokinra. By Week 112, at least 72% of treated patients reached a Psoriasis Area and Severity Index (PASI) score of 90, maintaining consistent skin clearance from Week 64. Furthermore, 78% of patients reported sustained improvements in itch over the same period, with no new safety signals emerging throughout the study.
Mark Lebwohl, professor emeritus at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, noted that the durability of these results addresses a critical need for chronic disease management. The trial also observed that among patients who achieved high clearance but were withdrawn from the medication at Week 24, 85% regained their response within 24 weeks of resuming therapy. Johnson & Johnson continues to evaluate the drug across several other inflammatory conditions, including psoriatic arthritis and Crohn's disease, as part of a broader clinical development program.
