Umatilla Basin residents eligible for $6.2 million groundwater settlement

The class action, Pearson et al. v. Port of Morrow et al. (Case No. 2:26-cv-00632), targets the environmental impact on local groundwater. While this agreement covers Madison Ranches, other defendants remain involved in ongoing litigation, meaning future claims or notices may be issued. A separate settlement involving Amazon Data Services, Inc. is also currently moving through the court system.

Class members do not need to file documentation immediately. The court will provide instructions for submitting claims once the formal process opens. Those wishing to exclude themselves from the settlement must file an opt-out request by December 8, 2026, while formal objections are due by January 7, 2027. A final fairness hearing is scheduled for March 22, 2027, to determine the distribution of funds and legal fees.
