Ichimasa Kamaboko Co. Ltd. reported a sharp decline in net profit for the first half of the fiscal year ending December 31, as rising operational costs clipped gains from a modest increase in revenue. Revenue for the period reached ¥19.59 billion, up from ¥19.05 billion a year earlier. However, this top-line growth failed to translate into higher earnings, as operating profit retreated to ¥852 million, down from ¥1.02 billion. Pretax profit also saw a contraction, falling to ¥836 million from ¥1.09 billion, highlighting the pressure on the company's margins.

Impact on Shareholder Value

The earnings contraction significantly impacted per-share metrics. According to the report, earnings per share dropped to ¥33.11 from ¥51.87 in the previous year. The results, which are based on Japanese accounting standards, underscore a challenging fiscal environment for the Niigata-based manufacturer.

The half-year performance highlights several key shifts in the company's financials:

    • A revenue increase of 2.8% compared to the same period in 2024.
    • A contraction in operating profit of approximately 16.5%.
    • A sharp 36.4% decline in overall net profit.
