The transition marks a reversal of previous efforts to outsource manufacturing for the platform, which powers the Pan America, Sportster S, and Nightster models. Management expects the shift to conclude before the 2028 model year launch commences next year. By 2027, the company anticipates the York, Pennsylvania facility alone will handle the output of more than 100,000 motorcycles.
This move aligns with the current administration’s industrial agenda, which incentivizes firms to relocate supply chains to domestic soil. While the company described the shift as a months-long planning effort, the decision underscores a broader corporate trend of prioritizing local manufacturing bases to mitigate geopolitical and trade-related risks.
