Beyond the primary contract with the USO, the company confirmed it has signed 66 additional final agreements with other labor organizations. These settlements cover the vast majority of the company’s 19,000-strong workforce. Negotiations focused on a broad spectrum of improvements, including enhanced health and education benefits, alongside new commitments to diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives. Management emphasized that the terms align with internal mandates for cost discipline and operational efficiency.
The company now prepares to formalize the documentation with the Colombian Ministry of Labor. Following the filing, joint teams from Ecopetrol and the USO plan to hold nationwide sessions to detail the specific outcomes of the negotiations to staff. As the largest integrated energy firm in Colombia, responsible for over 60% of the nation’s hydrocarbon production, Ecopetrol’s ability to maintain these labor relations remains a critical factor for its ongoing projects in the Permian basin, Brazil, and beyond.
