CTL Expands ChromeOS Ecosystem with New Modular All-in-One Desktops

Beaverton-based CTL is targeting education and enterprise sectors with its new MTIP24OPS monitor and a pair of ChromeOS-powered All-in-One desktops. By utilizing an Open Pluggable Specification (OPS) slot, the company aims to simplify hardware refreshes and reduce electronic waste across large-scale institutional computing fleets.

The new hardware centers on the MTIP24OPS, a 23.8-inch Full HD display designed to house swappable computing modules. By integrating the processor and memory into a slide-in OPS unit, CTL allows organizations to upgrade their processing power without discarding the monitor, effectively extending the lifecycle of the primary display hardware. The system supports both Intel Core i3 and i7 configurations, providing flexibility for diverse tasks ranging from basic administrative work to more resource-heavy applications.

For IT departments, the platform offers a streamlined management experience. Because these units run on ChromeOS, they integrate directly into the existing Google Admin console used for managing Chromebooks. This unified approach enables administrators to apply consistent security policies and configurations across their entire desktop and mobile fleet. Jeremy Burnett, CTL’s Vice President of Technology, noted that this modular design addresses the growing demand for secure, easily managed workstations in environments like libraries, labs, and call centers.

The units are scheduled for release in July 2026, with configurations featuring up to 64GB of RAM and automatic software updates guaranteed through June 2032. CTL is also bundling these with their "white-glove" deployment services, which include zero-touch enrollment and pre-configuration to minimize the burden on internal IT teams. The shift toward a modular, cable-free architecture seeks to eliminate the clutter typically associated with traditional desktop setups, while simultaneously lowering the total cost of ownership for government and educational institutions.
