The Taiwan Excellence reception at The Westin Book Cadillac highlighted a strategic pivot for Taiwanese suppliers, who are increasingly moving away from component-based sales toward comprehensive, field-ready mobility solutions. According to Bobby McCurdy of ITS America, international cooperation remains a cornerstone of transportation modernization, leveraging the distinct technological strengths of both nations to improve road safety and network efficiency.

Key industry players showcased how this integration functions in practice. EverFocus demonstrated AI-driven fleet monitoring to track driver behavior, while IBASE highlighted edge computing platforms that move data processing closer to critical infrastructure. MiTAC Digital focused on video telematics to synthesize vehicle data into actionable management insights. These efforts aim to move beyond pilot programs, emphasizing the need for long-term maintenance and system scalability.

Virginia Lingham of WSP USA noted that these technological advancements are essential to achieving broader safety mandates, such as reducing collision rates for pedestrians and cyclists. As GM Ventures’ Stefon Crawford pointed out, capital investment continues to act as a primary catalyst for these innovations. For Taiwanese firms, the U.S. market serves as a vital proving ground for co-creation, a partnership model that will likely gain further momentum as Taiwan prepares to host the ITS World Congress in 2029.
