Hirevue Launches Voice-Based AI to Automate Skills-Focused Screening

Salt Lake City-based Hirevue is deploying a new voice-based AI interviewer designed to filter applicant pools through dynamic, skills-focused conversations. By shifting focus from static resumes to real-time capability assessment, the tool aims to address the growing challenge of identifying high-quality candidates amidst surging application volumes for global enterprises.

The platform distinguishes itself by moving away from simple inference-based screening, instead utilizing two decades of industrial-organizational psychology. According to CEO Jeremy Friedman, the software addresses a market flooded with tools that prioritize speed over substance. The system conducts continuous voice interviews, scoring responses against validated rubrics derived from over 180 million prior assessments. This process allows recruiters to review an evidence-backed ranking of candidates before initiating a single human-led screening call.

This launch marks the first major integration following the company's March acquisition of Hireguide. The technology is already positioned to serve a client base that includes over 60% of the Fortune 100, providing an auditable trail for every applicant interaction. By standardizing the initial interview phase, the company intends to replace the subjective nature of traditional resume screening with measurable, job-specific data points. The tool operates 24/7, effectively automating the top-of-funnel workload for talent acquisition teams struggling with high-volume hiring.
