Still Bright Moves Copper-Extraction Pilot to NEST Campus

Still Bright, Inc. is moving its operations from a Newark incubator to a 15,000-square-foot facility at the Northeast Science and Technology (NEST) Center in Kenilworth, New Jersey. The move marks a shift from laboratory proof-of-concept to pilot-scale manufacturing for the company’s proprietary copper-extraction technology.

The startup, founded in 2022, utilizes a patented process known as RACER to recover up to 99% of copper from sulfide ore. Unlike traditional smelting, the method operates at ambient temperature and pressure, aiming to eliminate toxic waste while lowering processing costs. After securing $18.7 million in seed funding last year, the company is preparing to launch a demonstration unit capable of producing 500 tonnes of copper annually.

CEO Randy Allen noted that the transition to the NEST campus provides the necessary infrastructure to scale production while keeping the company within New Jersey. The 100-acre NEST facility offers specialized bio-manufacturing and laboratory space designed to retain expanding science firms. Still Bright expects to finalize its move into the new headquarters within 60 days to continue refining the process for potential global application.
