Evogene and BCDD Partner to Fast-Track Academic Drug Discovery

A new alliance between Evogene and Tel Aviv University’s Blavatnik Center for Drug Discovery aims to bridge the gap between academic innovation and commercial pharmaceuticals. By marrying AI-driven computational chemistry with advanced laboratory infrastructure, the initiative seeks to help researchers transform early-stage biological insights into viable drug candidates.

Many scientific breakthroughs originating in Israeli laboratories struggle to reach the clinical stage due to a lack of integrated development resources. This collaboration, facilitated by the university’s tech transfer arm, Ramot, addresses that bottleneck by providing a cohesive Design-Make-Test-Analyze workflow. Selected research projects will utilize Evogene’s proprietary ChemPass AI engine to design and optimize novel small molecules, while the Blavatnik Center provides the experimental validation and screening capabilities necessary for development.

Ofer Haviv, CEO of Evogene, noted that the framework is specifically designed to support researchers working on complex targets, including molecular glues. By combining computational power with physical infrastructure, the partners intend to reduce the risks inherent in early-stage discovery and improve the efficiency of moving new therapies toward the market. The initiative is now open to academic teams and entrepreneurs looking to advance their therapeutic programs.
