Pat Darrow, president of the union, emphasized that the endorsements prioritize legislative action over partisan loyalty. The union aims to support lawmakers willing to challenge corporate interests to secure middle-class union jobs. Every House incumbent on the list backed the Faster Labor Contracts Act, a bill designed to accelerate the bargaining process for newly organized workers seeking their first union contract.
In addition to Sherrod Brown, the union is backing a mix of Democratic and Republican representatives: Greg Landsman, Joyce Beatty, Michael Rulli, Max Miller, Marcy Kaptur, Mike Turner, Shontel Brown, Emilia Sykes, David Joyce, and Mike Carey. Brown, who has a history of collaborating with the union on pension protection and railway safety, has pledged to co-sponsor the Faster Labor Contracts Act in the Senate if re-elected. The union views this legislation as a critical benchmark for its political support heading into the November elections.
