ASSA ABLOY Expands Access Portfolio with Gunnebo Entrance Control Buyout

ASSA ABLOY has reached a definitive agreement to acquire Gunnebo Entrance Control, a specialist in speed gates and security revolving doors. The move aims to bolster the Swedish giant's footprint in mature global markets by integrating Gunnebo’s established manufacturing network and specialized pedestrian access expertise into its existing systems division.

The deal brings a company with roots dating to 1764 into the ASSA ABLOY fold. Based in Maresfield, UK, Gunnebo Entrance Control employs approximately 670 staff members and maintains production facilities across Europe, Asia, and the United States. Last year, the firm generated roughly 151 million euros in sales, maintaining what leadership described as a solid EBIT margin.

Nico Delvaux, President and CEO of ASSA ABLOY, framed the acquisition as a strategic play to complement the group’s core business. Massimo Grassi, who leads the Entrance Systems Division, noted that the integration will specifically enhance the company's pedestrian access offerings. Once finalized, Gunnebo will operate within the Pedestrian business segment. While the purchase is expected to have a marginal dilutive effect on earnings per share initially, the company anticipates the transaction will close in the fourth quarter of 2026, pending standard regulatory clearances.
