USPS Honors Linda McCartney with Commemorative Stamp Series

A pioneer of intimate portraiture and a fierce advocate for animal rights, Linda McCartney will be immortalized on a new set of U.S. postage stamps. The Postal Service plans to unveil the collection on September 25, 2026, at the Museum of Modern Art in New York City.

The upcoming stamp pane features five distinct photographs curated to represent McCartney's artistic breadth, from her candid snapshots of 1960s music icons to quiet, everyday scenes. Designed by USPS art director Derry Noyes, the collection includes a black-and-white self-portrait on the selvage, capturing the artist behind her own lens. This release marks another milestone for the photographer, who in 1968 became the first woman to have her work grace the cover of Rolling Stone magazine with a portrait of Eric Clapton.

Beyond her work in music photography, the stamps recognize McCartney’s enduring impact as an activist who helped bring vegetarianism into the mainstream. Her legacy as a photographer has been previously honored by institutions including the Royal Photographic Society and the Victoria and Albert Museum. The public can attend the first-day-of-issue ceremony at 11 a.m. ET, though registration is required via the official postal website.
