Tiger Group and Can-Am Launch Asset Sale for Chesapeake Fiber Facility

A 600-ton-per-day recycled pulp facility in Chesapeake, Virginia, has hit the market through a dual-track sale process. Tiger Group and Can-Am Machinery are accepting turnkey offers for the entire plant before transitioning to a live webcast auction on October 8 for individual systems and machinery.

The 45,000-square-foot facility, formerly operated by Total Fiber Recovery, was designed to process post-consumer corrugated containers into unbleached recycled pulp. Despite a design capacity of 200,000 metric tons annually, operations were curtailed by funding challenges shortly after the plant began commercial production. According to Dan Nigrosh, president of Can-Am Machinery, the equipment remains in near-new condition, offering buyers a rare chance to acquire modern processing technology without the typical multi-year lead times.

The inventory includes specialized machinery from suppliers such as Kadant Black Clawson, Bellmer Kufferath, and TSI. Key assets up for bid include a complete rotary drum dryer system, pulping and dewatering lines, and comprehensive packaging infrastructure. Bidding for the online auction opens October 1 at 10:30 a.m. ET and concludes one week later. Potential buyers looking for integrated systems or the entire facility are encouraged to submit bids before the auction date by contacting the Tiger Group or Can-Am Machinery directly.
