Class Action Lawsuit Targets The Ensign Group Over Care Allegations

A federal securities class action has been filed against The Ensign Group, Inc., following accusations that the company’s business model relied on the systemic neglect of elderly residents. The lawsuit covers investors who purchased company securities between February 10, 2022, and June 18, 2026, seeking damages for alleged financial harm.

The complaint, filed by the law firm Bronstein, Gewirtz & Grossman, LLC, alleges that The Ensign Group and its officers issued false or misleading statements regarding their operations. Plaintiffs contend that the company’s profitability was built upon the neglect of patients, including instances of inadequate nutrition, insufficient medical attention, and the failure to provide basic care for those in distress. The legal filing further claims that Ensign engaged in fraudulent billing of Medicaid and Medicare by accepting federal funds for high-level care that was never delivered.

Beyond allegations of neglect, the lawsuit details claims of administrative misconduct. The complaint asserts that the company falsified staffing hours for Certified Nursing Assistants and participated in an illegal scheme to rent the licenses of administrators who were not present to manage facilities. Investors who suffered losses during the specified period have until December 7, 2026, to apply to be appointed as lead plaintiff. The firm operates on a contingency fee basis, meaning legal costs are tied strictly to the success of the recovery efforts.
