Tokyo Fertility Startup Dioseve Raises JPY 1.45 Billion

With a fresh injection of JPY 1.45 billion in equity and government-backed support from NEDO, Tokyo-based Dioseve is pushing to modernize the IVF process. The biotech firm aims to replace intensive hormonal stimulation with its iPS cell-derived technology, ReproNest, while bringing a TIME100 reproductive pioneer onto its advisory board.

The Series A extension, led by Archetype Ventures with participation from DG Daiwa Ventures and others, brings the company’s total equity funding to JPY 2.5 billion. When combined with the non-dilutive support from the NEDO Deep Tech Startup Support Program, total capital available for the company’s development pipeline reaches JPY 2.9 billion. These resources are earmarked for building manufacturing infrastructure and advancing the clinical translation of ReproNest.

ReproNest functions as a co-culture system that supports oocyte maturation outside the body. By enabling minimal stimulation protocols, the technology targets the physical and financial hurdles of conventional IVF, which often requires ten days of injections and frequent clinic visits. To bolster its scientific trajectory, the company appointed Professor Katsuhiko Hayashi, a leader in germ cell research from Osaka University, as a scientific advisor. Hayashi, whose work was recognized by TIME100 in 2024, will guide the startup as it transitions from experimental validation to clinical application.
