John Bratsakis Named CEO of The League of Credit Unions & Affiliates

After a nationwide search, The League of Credit Unions & Affiliates has appointed industry veteran John Bratsakis as its new Chief Executive Officer. Bratsakis, who brings over 35 years of executive experience to the role, will officially step into the position on August 3, 2026, to oversee regional operations.

Bratsakis moves to the organization from his previous role as President and CEO of the MD|DC Credit Union Association. His tenure there was marked by significant growth in member engagement and the launch of Plexcity, a collaborative back-office service platform that now supports numerous credit unions and foundations across the country. Richard J. Skaggs, chair of The League’s Board of Directors, pointed to Bratsakis’s proven track record in advocacy and relationship management as key drivers for the appointment.

Currently serving as Chair of the American Association of Credit Union Leagues, Bratsakis has spent decades navigating complex regulatory environments and representing industry interests before lawmakers. In his new capacity, he will manage an organization that represents 368 credit unions across Alabama, Florida, Georgia, and Virginia, overseeing a network that serves 33.8 million members and manages assets totaling $477.6 billion. Bratsakis expressed a focus on strengthening the organization's influence and fostering innovation to support the financial well-being of consumers and small businesses.
