The Parkside Business & Community in Partnership (PBCIP) will receive $800,000 to advance its mission of neighborhood stabilization. The organization, which has operated for 30 years, focuses on affordable housing and commercial growth. PBCIP CEO Bridget Phifer noted that the capital will accelerate ongoing initiatives and expand the reach of programs designed to foster equitable outcomes for Parkside residents. Since 2020, New Jersey American Water has funneled over $2.3 million into these efforts, including support for the Hardy Homes townhome development.

Heart of Camden is set to receive $150,000 to support its long-standing work in the Waterfront South neighborhood. The nonprofit plans to utilize these funds to further the Broadway Gateway initiative, which includes the redevelopment of the historic Olsen Building at 1811 Broadway and the establishment of a community grocery market at 526 Ferry Avenue. Executive director Carlos Morales emphasized that the investment allows the organization to preserve neighborhood landmarks while keeping local residents at the center of development. New Jersey American Water has contributed more than $600,000 to these specific efforts since 2022. State officials oversee the tax credit program, which allows businesses to direct state tax credits toward resident-driven development plans.
